Initiated by Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra (the Princess Mother) and implemented by the Mae Fah Luang Foundation under Royal Patronage since 1988, the Doi Tung Development Project covers 29 villages across Mae Fah Luang and Mae Sai districts in Chiang Rai Province. It supports approximately 11,000 people from six ethnic groups: Akha, Lahu, Shan, Tai Lue, Lawa, and Yunnan Chinese. 

Doi Tung operates as a social enterprise focused not only on reducing social inequality, but also on minimizing environmental impact and nurturing a new generation of responsible leaders committed to long-term collective well-being.

At its heart, Doi Tung’s true purpose is to empower communities with equal access to basic needs, quality education, dignified livelihoods, and the opportunity to live secure, fulfilling, and happy lives.
