The Gallery Joins “Thailand Gallery” in The Hague, The Netherlands

Elevating Thai Craftsmanship to the Global Stage Through Contemporary Cultural Expression

The Gallery is proud to be part of the Thailand Gallery project, held at the Royal Thai Embassy in The Hague, Netherlands, from 9–10 April 2026. This landmark initiative represents another important step in presenting Thai identity to the international community through the lenses of modernity, sustainability, and local wisdom.

Developed as a prototype cultural space, Thailand Gallery showcases over 100 curated works of Thai art and craftsmanship, bridging Thailand’s cultural heritage with contemporary design to demonstrate the global relevance and creative potential of Thai artisanship.

Presenting Thai Heritage Through a Hybrid Exhibition Experience

Thailand Gallery features both physical and digital exhibitions, expanding international access to Thai textiles, art, and craftsmanship through immersive displays and digital archives. The project also includes a curated knowledge database dedicated to preserving and promoting Thai craft heritage for future generations.

A key highlight of the initiative is its collaboration with Eichholtz, the internationally renowned luxury furniture brand, to transform Thai textiles into contemporary furniture pieces. This creative partnership aligns with the royal vision of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya’s “Don Koi Model,” which aims to elevate Thai textiles onto the global stage by integrating local wisdom with world-class design.

The Gallery’s Role as Curator of Thai Craftsmanship

As a curator of Thai craftsmanship, The Gallery was entrusted with selecting works from 7 outstanding Thai artisan brands to represent the richness and diversity of Thailand’s craft heritage at the exhibition.

Each brand was carefully chosen for its exceptional craftsmanship, contemporary design approach, and ability to reinterpret Thai cultural identity in a way that resonates with global audiences.

The 7 Thai Artisan Brands Curated by The Gallery

  1. Hearterpiece

A contemporary Benjarong brand reinterpreting Thai decorative arts through a modern lens, Hearterpiece transforms traditional Benjarong porcelain into refined lifestyle pieces for today’s world. Through minimalist and functional design, the brand makes this heritage craft relevant to modern everyday living while preserving the intricate hand-painted detailing and craftsmanship that define authentic Benjarong artistry.

  1. Sumphat

Sumphat creates lifestyle and decorative objects distinguished by its reinterpretation of Thai history, heritage, and cultural traditions through contemporary design. The brand brings together expertise from diverse Thai artisan disciplines—including traditional shadow puppetry, Benjarong craftsmanship, and recycled agricultural materials—to create unique, globally relevant design pieces that embody both cultural significance and modern sophistication.

  1. Wisetsill

Wisetsill is a Thai artisan brand that expresses Thai identity through cultural storytelling and handcrafted metal artistry. The brand creates intricate decorative works inspired by Thai nature and traditional symbolism, particularly motifs such as the lotus flower, which carries deep cultural and spiritual meaning in Thai heritage. Through metal craftsmanship, Wisetsilp transforms these inspirations into elegant contemporary art pieces.

  1. Akha Ma-De

Akha Ma-De reinterprets traditional cultural symbols into contemporary design through the intricate craftsmanship of Akha women artisans. The brand’s lifestyle products are inspired by iconic Thai cultural elements such as floral garlands, traditional hanging ornaments, and festive decorative pieces including Christmas ornaments. Based in an Akha village in Chiang Rai, Akha Ma-De creates sustainable income opportunities for local women artisans while empowering mothers in the community to support their children’s education and improve their families’ quality of life.

  1. 5ive Sis

5ive Sis specializes in contemporary pewter craftsmanship, combining modern design sensibilities with expert metalworking techniques to create distinctive handcrafted pieces. The brand’s collections include sculptures, decorative objects, and functional lifestyle products that balance contemporary elegance with intricate artisanal detailing, preserving the essence of Thai craftsmanship while elevating pewter work into internationally appealing design objects.

  1. Thai Benjarong

Thai Benjarong was founded by Sahat Preecharat, whose deep passion for Thai art inspired the creation of the brand. His love for the traditional Thai art form known as Benjarong has been passed down through two generations, with the family immersed in Benjarong artistry since childhood. This lifelong connection fostered a strong commitment to preserving and revitalizing Benjarong by integrating it more meaningfully into modern daily life.

Driven by the belief that this traditional art form should remain relevant in contemporary Thai society, the brand has continuously developed and refined its artistic techniques. Drawing upon generations of inherited craftsmanship, accumulated knowledge of traditional patterns, and mastery of color application, Thai Benjarong has established its own distinctive identity—one that sets it apart from conventional Benjarong while preserving the authentic essence of Thai heritage.

  1. Thaniya

Thaniya is a contemporary Thai home fragrance brand that blends luxury with Thai identity, creating products that function as both aromatic lifestyle items and decorative home accents. The brand incorporates traditional craftsmanship by pairing hand-painted ceramic vessels with locally inspired ingredients, including candle wax made from Thai jasmine rice and fragrances derived from Thai flowers and herbs. The result is a refined sensory experience that celebrates Thai artistry, craftsmanship, and natural heritage in a contemporary form.

Extending Thai Craftsmanship Beyond The Hague

Beyond the exhibition in The Hague, selected pieces from Thailand Gallery were also featured in a window display at De Bijenkorf Amsterdam, one of the Netherlands’ most prestigious department stores.

This international retail showcase further expands the reach of Thai craftsmanship into the European market, increasing awareness of Thai artisanship among global audiences and reinforcing the value of Thai cultural products in international commercial spaces.

More Than Exhibition—Creating Opportunity for Thai Communities

For The Gallery, participation in Thailand Gallery goes beyond showcasing beautiful objects on an international stage. It is about opening doors of opportunity for artisan communities across Thailand.

As a Social Enterprise, The Gallery bridges the gap between traditional wisdom and contemporary market demand, ensuring that Thai craftsmanship is not only preserved, but able to thrive in modern global markets.

Our Impact: Building Sustainable Ecosystems for Thai Artisans

The Gallery is committed to creating a transparent and sustainable ecosystem for Thai artisan communities through:

  • Returning Revenue to Artisan Communities
Product sales directly support the makers and artisan groups behind each creation, strengthening local economies.
  • Preserving Living Cultural Heritage
Supporting younger generations of artisans to continue learning and preserving rare traditional techniques.
  • Improving Quality of Life
Transforming artisanal skills into sustainable income opportunities that empower communities with long-term economic independence.

Strengthening Thai–Dutch Relations Through Culture

Thailand Gallery also celebrates over 400 years of diplomatic relations between Thailand and the Netherlands, using art and culture as a bridge to connect people, ideas, and shared appreciation between both nations.

The exhibition serves not only as a cultural showcase, but as a platform for collaboration, exchange, and mutual understanding—helping build a more sustainable and culturally connected future.
